Gonna use the blog to keep track of everything I'm doing and have done in the college, so here's the first 3d post.
Meaning to create a character with armour whom will be inspired by sci-fi and war games. The reason in general for choosing this as a project(apart from my obsession with such things)is I can create a character that looks very human but at the same time, can just be made with many simple geometric shapes.
As I haven't gotten photoshop onto my pc yet, I'm going to take note of words typed into google to find the ideal search results to help me build a mood board and help design a character. Once I have a design (probably created on photoshop by tracing a human to get the proportions right first time, then drawing clothing onto the figure) I will draw 4 sides all relative to each other. Then I can simply plot the images against a front wall, left, right and the other one......back I suppose.
All work to be done from home, giving me more time on 3d studio max instead of developing ideas in a sketch book (which can be done almost anywhere).
On the more exciting scale of things, I have found a new interest in cell shading (sp*) which has a cartoony yet 3d look. This might be worth pursuing.
