more character design, compliments of Gavin Stuart :)

Our character design. These guys are all we need. These are very roughly done, the characters are still in development.

This is a story board of the first 10-15 seconds

These are for the special very short brief we have been given. We are quite talented, and draw stuff that looks nice. The final result should be nice but getting ready for presentation at the moment. Here's a sneak peak of a few of our ideas and creations for the onedotzero brief.

New blog post

I have really REALLY been falling behind with illness, seeing a doctor today and hopefully the symptoms go away. Until I return though, here's my logo idea on photoshop. I am now working on the layout, with a complete site map and organising my sketches for assessment in 6 weeks. Hopefully creative industries can be redone as illness has thrown me off the mark along with parents nagging me about getting a job, being out of the house due to work being done, learning to drive, being asked for my opinion on the next car, being told off for my debt and just generally having the world turn upside down. Did I drag on there? I think I might have.

It's probably about time....

That I get some projects of my own on the go. I think I'm motivated all of a sudden. Want to create an animation consisting mostly of trippy looping visuals, with 24-30fps and every frame drawn into.

This way, I can show two things at once, my patience and attention to detail (when my mind is set to it). Hopefully I create something entertaining, shocking, colourful or all of the above. Time will tell, as will my train of thought.

and more moody boards

here's some more moods of mine, The mood board shows mostly the kind of attitude and swing I want on the site. Twisted yet silly, not monty python silly but, well.... You'll see.

I learned how to save a person with cpr whilst I was at it

I noticed my gif did not work, stupid thing. i DIDNT SAVE IT PROPERLY, IT'S SCRAPPED. Also the colour was wrong, think I fixed it.

skateboarding, dislocated wrists and masochism

It seems quite obvious that a lot of people involved in sports like skateboarding and snow boarding know perfectly well that they are going to be injured at one point or another. This is most definItely one of the most thrilling parts of the sport - the chance, the risk of being maimed or killed -.

I wouldn't call skaters masochists really, as most tend to plan on landing the trick, not enjoying a faceplant. But the fact that they could injure themselves is the fun, that they are willing to do these crazy things no one else will.

The website is based on hospitals, morphine and a doctor reviewing a patient and hopefully should be very entertaining. Here's some pictures, hope the gif works cause this was a painful looking 40ft drop for this guy, very entertaining!

Concept designs

These are NOT finals, they are just tests, so that can reassure myself that moby dick and war of the worlds can actually be done in the same style.

Here we go, these are photos and illustrations mixed together. The image is then changed to black and white, and then I go to gradient map, and change the black to a random colour, I've been experimenting to see what works best. I also included a mood board. The war of the worlds design I do will include a custom illustration by moi. Coolio.

Not because I have to, I just really like sci-fi.

Book covers and such being done over the holidays. I have photoshop to work on making this much easier for myself. The war of the worlds in going to be done very soon, and the moby dick book will be done over the next week. Moby dick has not been started but it will be ok once story and characters have been researched a little.

3D studio max related post

Gonna use the blog to keep track of everything I'm doing and have done in the college, so here's the first 3d post.

Meaning to create a character with armour whom will be inspired by sci-fi and war games. The reason in general for choosing this as a project(apart from my obsession with such things)is I can create a character that looks very human but at the same time, can just be made with many simple geometric shapes.

As I haven't gotten photoshop onto my pc yet, I'm going to take note of words typed into google to find the ideal search results to help me build a mood board and help design a character. Once I have a design (probably created on photoshop by tracing a human to get the proportions right first time, then drawing clothing onto the figure) I will draw 4 sides all relative to each other. Then I can simply plot the images against a front wall, left, right and the other one......back I suppose.

All work to be done from home, giving me more time on 3d studio max instead of developing ideas in a sketch book (which can be done almost anywhere).

On the more exciting scale of things, I have found a new interest in cell shading (sp*) which has a cartoony yet 3d look. This might be worth pursuing.

KEYWORDS:
odst
carmine
link/windwaker
cel shading
tales of valheria
chronicles of vesperia
caste crashers
boba fett
steam punk (for lots of impressive designs built up with cylinders, rectangles and spheres)

New website post

Good news, my internets work again and my computer has been wiped and is now working at maximum efficiency. Now I can finally finish my work in a much easier fashion.

Here's a couple of screen shots of my home and animals page.

They are not finished, I will have a second navigation bar down the left (probably) and the animals are supposed to be links to other animal pictures of the same description. The home looks boring so I need to find a way to lighten it up.

Pardon the transform markings, they just happened to be on the page when I took the screen shot. and the pages aren't finished any way, they are merely to give a rough idea of the style my website will have.

Work is hard.....

Basically AOL sucks, the computer crashed and died recently and the internet (presumably the router) went with it, so work has been difficult without the use of it. Hopefully when everything is back online, this in turn will make the next unit much, much easier.

And the ball carries on rolling

yup, another post, it's 14:35 and another A4 page has been finished, very possible that I will cut up pages in order to spread images over a3 sheets ready for presentation. So, here ya go, slowly but surely this research will get done.

Time to get waaay more research done,

I guess i've been too picky with my choices of research images. So going to get several artists interpretations of wolves, deer and other animals. I also have Leaflets of animal parks that will make up possibly 1 A3 page and also a collection of maps which could work towards another a4/a3 sheet. A mind map also hasn't been started but I think it would be very beneficial to do so. So far, I have 2 A3 pages, by saturday evening, I aim to have a total of 6. And another 3 should be on the way over the course of the day on sunday. Hopefully all goes to plan.

Yet another page of moods

Here you go, there's another one here.

15:03 and I haven't done quite as much as I would have liked to.

Yeah, there's not nearly as much done as I had set out today, seems like the hours in college disappeared faster than I thought because even with me keeping my eyes pinned on the computer screen and working, I still didn't manage to achieve as much. At least the steps I've taken today have pointed me in the right direction for research, was pointed out to change what I was doing and start doing mood boards. Good advice.

Well, attached to this I have my list of websites that worked well and ones I hate with a passion. Hopefully I manage to piece together a website design that is similar to ones on the good site list. (Website url's included)

and more research. 11:45

This is really image research so making a logo should be slightly easier. I want to incorporate the wolf into the logo since the wolves seem to be the main attraction.

10.30

Got like, a little done, man... yeah...

Trying to make a stencil/graffiti style wolf with sunglasses so it advertises the main attraction and promotes their tag line where things are really on the wild side...... very original. Loving it.

Got some research to show but my cool wolf with sunglasses is in a strange file format apparently, I better stick to trustworthy stock photos now.

Goals for today, (03/09/09)

Guess I will type this fast as to give more time for this list..... yeah.

Meaning to gather more research in the form of mood boards, one for wildlife and animals, the other for various design techniques and styles to get some inspiration.

Next I mean to do roughs in my sketch book of the logo and try design some simple images that would be suitable for the website.

If I happen to do both of these, I will be going on to create roughs for the website after looking over the brief some more and figuring out what I'm doing next.

New blog, new year, new stuff. awesome

There's a lot to look forward to this year as the animation and sketch books progressively become more interesting to behold. Let's start the new year :D
